Eindhoven travel
Getting there
Eindhoven has its own airport, dominated by Ryanair and the eastern European low cost carrier Wizzair. It's the second biggest in the country after Amsterdam. There are flights from London Stansted, London City and Dublin.
I didn't get to PSV by plane, but I can tell you the airport is all of five miles or so from the city centre.
Bus 401 does the shuttle run from the airport to Eindhoven Central Station every ten minutes on weekdays, every quarter of an hour on Saturdays and half hourly on Sundays, the journey taking less than half an hour.
If you can't find a connection that suits, the next best plane journey is into Amsterdam which has connections to most places you can think of. Direct trains run every half hour from Schiphol airport station, and it takes around an hour and half to reach Eindhoven with fares a little under 20 euros.
Rotterdam The Hague Airport a little further away and would involve further connections.
There's two other ways to cross the English Channel.
By rail, Eurostar will take you as far as Brussels. Eindhoven is a further two and a half hours away, usually requiring one change of train in Holland.
Alternatively you can hop on the ferry - Harwich to the Hook of Holland. Once you've arrived on the edge of Dutch soil (by overnight ferry is best) it's a 30 minute shuttle train into Rotterdam, and a change on to the half hourly direct trains to Eindhoven, taking a little over an hour.
Check our rail and sail packages on the Stena Line site which throw in rail travel on both sides of the ferry journey for very competitive prices. As a sample, you can leave London Liverpool Street at 7pm, kip on the ferry over and be in Eindhoven at soon after 10am the next day. Excellent.
Getting around
Once you're in Eindhoven, frankly there's a good chance you won't need any transport as all the bars and restaurants, the majority of the handful of sights, and PSV are all within easy walking distance of the middle. Even Eindhoven's second team, FC Eindhoven, is in walking distance - albeit quite a long one.
If you do end up in a hotel a little further out then Eindhoven's served by buses, and you can pick up cheap day tickets to ferry you wherever you need.
